چکیده

This report describes a non-linear method of analysis for prestressed concrete structures which predicts behaviour at all stages of loading, from the initial application of prestress up to and beyond the collapse condition. The method uses a segmental line element approach and is a modification of an existing method previously developed for reinforced concrete structures. Comparisons with the results of tests of continuous prestressed concrete beams show good correlation. The method has been developed for the purpose of investigating the collapse behaviour of indeterminate prestressed concrete structures and hence to develop design recommendations on minimum acceptable ductility levels, moment redistribution and design safety coefficients.

Comparison between Alternative Load Path Method and a Direct Applying Blast Loading Method in Assessment of the Progressive Collapse

Extensive research has been focused on the progressive collapse analysis of buildings and most of them are based on the alternative path method (APM) with sudden removal of one or several columns. However, in this method the damage of adjacent elements of removed columns under blast conditions was ignored and this issue can lead to an incorrect prediction of progressive collapse. Therefore, in ...

Threat-Independent Column Removal and Fire-Induced Progressive Collapse: Numerical Study and Comparison

Progressive collapse is defined as the spread of an initial failure from element to element, eventually resulting in the collapse of an entire structure or a disproportionately large part of it. The current progressive collapse analyses and design methods in guidelines and codes focus on the alternate load path method. This method is suitable especially in the case of blast-induced progressive ...

Effect of Structural Height on the Location of Key Element in Progressive Collapse of RC Structures

After the failure of an element in a structure, its loads should be redistributed on the other elements and the structure must provide some new paths to carry the load. If such new load paths are not provided, collapse progression will begin in the structure. As the beginning of progressive collapse in a structure is more sensitive to the missing of an element, the location of that element is m...

SERVICEABILITY OF CONCRETE BEAMS PRESTRESSED BY CARBON FffiRE REINFORCED PLASTIC .RODS

This paper describes an experimental program undertaken at the University of Manitoba to study the serviceability of concrete beams prestressed by carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) rods. The experimental program consisted of eight concrete beams prestressed by CFRP rods and two concrete beams prestressed by conventional steel strands. The beams were tested using two static concentrated loa...

Modeling of L-Shaped, Precast, Prestressed Concrete Spandrels

PCI JOURNAL This paper presents the results of nonlinear fi nite element analyses conducted to model the behavior of L-shaped, precast, prestressed concrete spandrels constructed with open web reinforcement. The fi nite element model was calibrated using experimental results from recent tests of slender, L-shaped, precast, prestressed concrete spandrels. Detailed correlative studies between ana...
